Description
The United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP), based in Palm Springs, is seeking an Accounting Manager.
Reporting to the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer, the Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the accounting operations of USCAP, reconciling accounts, maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, supporting the overall efficiency of the accounting department. and finalizing the financial reports to discuss with management. This role performs functions as assigned including but not limited to: budgeting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, account reconciliations, month-end reporting, and payroll processing. This role performs a variety of duties and responsibilities in the receipt and processing of accounting data including recording, classifying, reviewing, and summarizing data for use at a higher level. The position maintains ledgers, journals, reconciliations, files and other accounting records. This role is pivotal in putting together the information needed for the financial audit and tax form 990. In addition, they may monitor revenues, expenditures, and appropriations to ensure compliance with established requirements and verify accurate distribution of revenue and expenditures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Manages accounts payable, credit card reconciliations and accounts receivable.
Manages month end close process including journal entries, departmental analysis and preparation of consolidated financial statements and account reconciliations.
Manages annual budget process, including training of staff.
Prepares budget-to-actuals reports for department heads.
Ensures the timely closing of billing and accounting cycle and all associated reconciliations.
Ensures that all accounts receivable are turned over in a timely fashion while maintaining good working relationships with our partners.
Works with various customized systems to ensure proper accounting procedures and controls.
Ensures compliance with key controls and audit requirements.
Interacts with various levels of management across the organization.
Provides reporting to leadership on business metrics and analytics assignments.
Coordinates yearly financial information and materials with auditors and outside accountants to support the annual audit and tax form 990.
Processes bi-monthly payroll and review.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience
Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
Bachelor’s Degree required (business, finance, or accounting preferred).
Knowledge or experience in the field of nonprofit accounting (preferred).
Required Technical / Other Skills and Abilities
Familiarity with GAAP accounting and concepts.
Strong Excel and accounting system skills.
Thoroughness, accuracy, and consistency when accomplishing accounting tasks. Monitors and checks work to verify financial data is correct. Keeps financial information and other data as organized as possible, helping streamline operations, reduce the risk of errors, and ensure data is easily found.
Ability to systematically and critically examine financial statements and other similar documents to establish the cause-and-effect relationship among the various items. The ability to determine how accounting standards should be applied.

The chosen candidate will be expected to travel to USCAP meetings and events as needed; be able to work a varied schedule depending on the needs of the organization, and may include occasional evenings, weekends and early mornings. References and a background check are required for final candidates
