- Administrator for Accounting Accreditation and Assessment
Description
Reporting directly to the Department Chair, the Administrator for Accounting Accreditation and Assessment assists with the oversight of the maintenance of AACSB accounting accreditation and compliance with New York State licensing requirements and recruitment activities. The Administrator will also assist with special advisement, as it relates to CPA licensing requirements and other unique issues.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Supports the department in the maintenance of accounting accreditation, including maintaining a thorough understanding of the AACSB accounting standards and its application to the curriculum.
-Promotes the department’s assurance of learning efforts for accreditation purposes, including the management and collection of internal and external outcomes assessment data.
-Monitors the department’s compliance with New York State CPA licensing requirements and serves as the department’s liaison with the New York State Education Department for Professional Licensing and National Association State Boards of Accountancy.
-Provides special advisement to undergraduate and graduate accounting majors, including counseling students to ensure satisfaction of the specific educational requirements required to obtain a CPA license in New York State.
-Develops and maintains relationships with new and existing internship partners to assist accounting students with securing internships and full-time positions.
-Supports the department in various recruitment activities.
-Collaborates with faculty advisor of Hofstra’s Beta Alpha Psi chapter to facilitate club activities.
-Assists with the review of M.S. in Accounting graduate applications.
-Represents the department and Zarb at undergraduate and graduate admissions events.
-Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree in business administration and/or M.S. degree in accounting or tax, from
an AACSB accredited institution required.
-Minimum of 1-2 years of accounting experience.
-Hold a CPA license or be actively pursuing licensure.
-Strong communication, analytical and organizational skills.
-The ability to interact with a variety of constituents including students, accounting firms and
corporate partners, recruiters and alumni.
-Strong technology skills, including Microsoft Excel.
-This position requires a flexible work schedule, including late evenings and/or occasional
weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
-Proven leadership and mentorship experience with students preferred.
-Experience with Beta Alpha Psi.
