Description
Be at the forefront of change and become a part of the innovative and forward-thinking academic team at the University of Michigan-Flint's Department of Accounting, Finance, & International Business in the rapidly expanding School of Management (SOM). SOM is searching for a faculty member who will serve as the CFP Director to lead the development of its Certified Financial Planner (CFP) program.
This is a full-time Tenure Track Assistant/Associate or Full Professor position with instructional and administrative responsibilities. This hybrid position requires a regular presence on campus. We seek to hire faculty with expertise on the CFP curriculum and ability to develop strong connection to the industry.
This is a three-year renewable term appointment.
Responsibilities*
The CFP Director will report directly to and serve at the discretion of the SOM Dean and will have the following responsibilities:
Working with faculty develop a CFP board program, making the necessary curricular changes
Work with the CFP board to get the program registered and its maintenance
Develop strong connection to the industry for creating experience opportunities for the students in the program
Oversee CFP program efforts for marketing/recruitment, retention, graduation and placement of students
Hire and mentor faculty, visiting professors and adjuncts teaching in the CFP program
Manage the daily administration of the CFP program, including all day-to-day operations and activities of the program
Report to and work collaboratively with the Dean of the School of Management on matters of resources for the CFP program, including office space, budget, and staff
Collaborate with department chairs concerning CFP program course scheduling, and faculty resources
Ensure required classroom observations/other forms of peer review of online teaching as required
Provide leadership related to carrying out strategic planning initiatives related to the CFP program
Represent the CFP program in selected events and functions

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Must possess a doctoral degree in financial planning (or closely related field of study), or in the process
Must hold CFP
Demonstrated potential for developing and directing academic programs

Mode of Work
Hybrid:
The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements.
