- Associate Director of Student Financial Services
Description
The College is pleased to announce an opening for an Associate Director of Student Financial Services. As the higher education landscape continues to evolve, we seek a strategic partner to help imagine and implement the next generation of Williams’ longstanding commitment to access and affordability. Some of the qualities we are seeking include:
- Adept at navigating complex data systems
- Able to speak with ease to diverse audiences
- Comfortable curating and analyzing data from various sources
- Creative change manager
- Independent thinker who enjoys working with a complex, deadline-driven team that requires flexibility and openness to change
This full-time, year-round, regular appointment will report to the director of the student financial services and will be integral in implementing a new ERP system (Workday) while also participating in the onboarding and first full cycle of the new financial aid software (PowerFAIDS). The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to build strong partnerships with key colleagues across campus to ensure the best experience for all students.
Reporting through the Dean of Admission and Student Financial Services, undergraduates come to Williams from around the world and a wide variety of backgrounds. About 15 percent are first-generation college students, 21 percent are Pell Grant recipients, and 40 percent are U.S. students of color. Ten percent are international and they represent 96 countries around the world. The college is deeply committed to access. Williams was the first college in the country to offer All-Grant financial aid awards eliminating the need for students to work or borrow as part of their required financial aid awards. More than 54% of enrolled students receive financial aid and among those students, the net average cost is about $12,000. More than 20% pay nothing at all, and indebtedness rates at graduation are among the nation’s lowest. Our expectation is that the successful candidate will excel at working in a community that is broadly diverse with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion.
In addition to the general responsibilities described above, we plan to utilize the strengths, experience, and interests of our new colleague in order to provide the greatest opportunity for professional growth and advance the ambitious goals of the office.
