About the team
The FA Section plays a crucial role in supporting the financial accounting processes. By striving for efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations while ensuring compliance, the section aims to deliver reliable financial data. Its activities are centered around the following three core functions:
- AOC (Accounting Operation Control Function)
The AOC function oversees daily monitoring of the balance sheet (B/S) and profit and loss statement (P/L) to prevent irregular transactions. It manages account controls, bank reconciliations, and month-end FX position estimations, ensuring the integrity of accounting operations. Additionally, it prepares and submits financial control reports, maintains customer master data for Nostro and Vostro accounts, and ensures proper maintenance of the chart of accounts.
FRR (Financial and Regulatory Reporting Function)
The FRR function is responsible for preparing and submitting statutory returns and surveys to regulatory authorities such as HKMA, DPB, and the Census Department. It also handles term-end reporting to the Head Office, liaises with internal and external audits, and provides financial accounting support for new product implementation. Furthermore, it drives regulatory compliance projects and coordinates responses to audits conducted by Japanese authorities, including JFSA, the Bank of Japan, and tax authorities.
Tax Reporting Function
The Tax Reporting Function focuses on preparing profit tax computations, coordinating with tax representatives for filing tax returns, and addressing tax compliance, audits, and inquiries. It also manages transfer pricing operations for inter-office transactions and drives tax-related projects in alignment with regulatory requirements.
Role requirements
- The role has direct line management responsibility for the Financial Accounting Section.
- The role administers and monitors all aspects of financial/regulatory & tax reporting and accounting operations control matters
Essential Functions
- To follow the policy & direction of the Dept./Section & to assist your superiors in accomplishing the Dept./Section's overall duties & responsibilities at all times.
- To administer the company's accounting system to maintain departmental, divisional, and consolidated operating and financial statements.
- To ensure the smooth running of all support systems within the department and liaise with in-house system analysts for any troubleshooting.
- To ensure that all financial reports are prepared in compliance with Head Office and/or local statutory requirements, and generally accepted accounting principles
- To review the financial accounts and reports on earnings, profits, taxation and other financial accounting matters.
- To oversee the day-to-day financial operation control functions including bank reconciliations, general ledger controls, other accounting operations control & etc.
- To maintain effective operation within the department, by offering suitable guidance to the subordinates and recommendation on improvement of operation workflows.
- To liaise with internal and external auditors, local regulators and tax authorities.
- To provide advisory & knowledge sharing supports & etc, to other branches.
- To perform any other duties assigned by superiors.
- To drive various financial accounting related projects and system enhancements within the financial accounting process.

Work experience, education and skills
Experience
Essential: 1) Minimum 10-12 years of relevant experience in Banking or Financial Service, 2) Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills, 3) Strong knowledge of financial standards and banking regulations
Education & Professional Qualifications
Essential: Bachelor's Degree or above in Accounting, Finance, or related fields
Desirable: CPA or equivalent certification preferable
Technical Skills:
Essential: Good PC skills in MS Excel, Word & PowerPoint
Language Skills:
Essential: Good command of both English and Cantonese, Mandarin is preferable.
