Description
This position is located within Finance Shared Services (UA-FNSS), which is a department under the Office of the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer . It supports the Education Abroad unit of the Office of the Vice President for International Affairs (OVPIA).OVPIA is the steward of international activity across all campuses of Indiana University. It provides strategic leadership and advocacy for all international programs and projects and coordinate the resources necessary to sustain their growth. Its goal is to enable as many students, faculty, and staff as possible to pursue international and intercultural knowledge and experiences and to become engaged global citizens.
Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Reviews, approves and manages a proportionally high volume of foreign supplier/foreign currency POs and international travel/international credit card transaction expense reports.
- Formulates and manages business practices with IU Bursar and Financial Aid to process and track student fees and scholarships/fellowships related to international mobility of both incoming and outgoing students.
- Plans budgets and establish business practices that are designed to mitigate typical risks of international higher education activities -- risks such as currency fluctuation, hiring/employment overseas, and compliance with U.S. and foreign tax regulations.
- Interfaces between non-financial employees of affiliated foreign entities and foreign tax/accounting professionals.
- Provides functional advice and training to non-financial colleagues at IU and overseas on financial management and IU best practices.
- Assists executives and program management leaders on IU and foreign entity compliance issues, contract review, and human resource activities, with emphasis on how those activities impact sound and timely financial management.
- Consortium program budget management.
- Works closely with on-site international staff and members of the consortium.
- Leads finance component of scholarship team that manages more than $1 million in scholarships annually.
- Manages annual audit process and tax reporting for affiliated foreign entities.
- Provides high quality customer service to students and parents navigating complex financial situations and financial aid concerns.
- Using knowledge and application of accepted procedures and standards, manages the daily and long-term financial and/or administrative operations of an organizational unit or an academic, research, and teaching department within a school or college.
- Formulates policies and guidelines for division/department activities.
- Controls all expenditures and statement of accounts to ensure regulatory compliance and fiscal integrity.
- Manages general appropriation, endowment, federal and non-federal grants and contracts, and gift funds.
- Develops, plans, and implements special projects, which may include space renovations, space allocations, staffing, equipment purchases, long-range plans, leasing of off-campus space and services.
- Prepares operating and project budget drafts. Regularly explains financial concepts to non-financial employees.
- Monitors division/departmental budgets and reports any significant deviations from approved budgets.
- May provide functional advice or training to lower-level staff.

- Ability to clearly present material and make it accessible to a variety of audiences
- Ability to interpret financial documents from an accounting, policy, and practice perspective
Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Ferguson International Center
This is a primarily in person position but following successful completion of training, this role may be eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change based on university policy and departmental business needs.
Advertised Salary
$73,000 - $77,000 gross annual salary, depending upon qualifications.
