Description
Job Summary:The Financial Aid Officer assists students in obtaining student loans through the Federal Direct Loan Program while ensuring that the Frontier Nursing University (FNU) stays in compliance with regulations issued by the U.S. Department of Education.
Supervisor Responsibility:
No supervisor responsibility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adheres to policies, procedures, and methods in accordance with institutional and federal regulations
- Ensures customer-focused, high-quality student service
- Packages awards for eligible students, and processes the student loan for certification with the U.S. Department of Education
- Counsels prospective and current students regarding budgets, debt management, loan obligations, etc
- Maintains an accurate, up-to-date list of students and their financial aid award cycles
- Maintains a neat and orderly student financial aid file
- Works efficiently and closely with the Associate Director of Financial Aid to verify student applications and status changes
- Reviews students for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) each term
- Attends on-campus orientation sessions each term to educate students about the financial aid process
- Participates in the annual financial aid audit as necessary
- Maintains an active membership in applicable financial aid organizations
- Adheres to the elements of the Culture of Caring
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of organization and attention to detail
- Ability to work as a member of an efficient and productive team
- High technology proficiency
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred. Will consider an AA degree with significant experience in the field.
- One year of experience in student financial aid, student personnel, or related area in a post-secondary institution
Physical Requirements:
- Be able to sit for long periods of time
Reporting Relationship:
- This position reports to the Associate Director of Financial Aid
