Position Description:
The University of Louisville is seeking to hire a Financial Coordinator IV. The position serves as the Office of Research & Innovation department contact for assigned departments reviewing financial standing on a regular basis and escalating items to the Director of Finance as needed. Monthly review of projected program, project, gift or grant deficits along with asset and liability balances. Assist Director of Finance with the budget development process as needed each fiscal year. Serve as a point of contact for all ORI units with functionality of Workday Finance procurement transactions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monthly review of program, project, gift or grants with projected yearend deficits investigating causes for projected deficit.
- Monthly review of program, project, gift or grants asset and liability balances to identify any unsubstantiated balances.
- Serve as the contact for less complex in size and scope departments within the Executive Vice President for Research office. Meet with departments on a regular basis to review current financial standings and address department concerns. Escalate any issues or concerns from consultation with the Director of Finance and resolution with the department.
- Assist Director of Finance during the budget development process to develop all new year operating budgets based on a combination of historical data, feedback from department heads regarding requested changes and the outlook for future updates and the current budget circumstances of the University.
- Create and prepare ad hoc reporting and materials for leadership reviews.
- Assist with preparation of month end journal entries.
- Assist in Non-Program Income/Customer invoicing - income, outside of grants, for services performed. Communication with Central Billing and Director of Finance in proper billing of external constituents.
- Assist with Workday Finance transactions as necessary to support all units within the Office of Research. Including but not limited to requisitions, supplier invoice payments, travel and Personal Service Contracts.
- Assist with special projects when necessary.
- Provide backup support for Workday HR functions and office operations during staff absences, ensuring continuity in administrative and departmental coordination.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting or a related field and 2 years of experience.
- Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work to meet multiple competing deadlines.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Proven self-starter with the ability to work with minimal direction and oversight.
- Experience working with financial systems and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with Workday HR and Workday Finance
- Organized, task-oriented individual with a strong attention to detail
- Positive teamwork skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively to build relationships
- Ability to evaluate and analyze data to build strategic recommendations
- Strong critical thinking skills
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
