The IU West Hospital Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology department provides patients with access to lifesaving treatments, cutting-edge technology, and research-based medicine. The team cares for adult patients using teamwork, strong critical thinking, and quick interventions. The RN provides hands on care for patients undergoing diagnostic heart caths, interventional cardiac caths, and electro physiology procedures as well as patients undergoing Interventional Radiology procedures. In the cath lab, nurses have the opportunity to use their nursing skills and experience to make an immediate impact on our patient's lives.
This position is referral eligible! Relocation Incentive available! This position is for Full Time Days.
Nursing skills gained on this unit:
- How to care for patients undergoing various procedures including: Heart catheterization, cardiac ablations, STEMI, IR procedures, pacemaker and AICD implantation and others
- Use and knowledge of cutting-edge technology
- Critical thinking skills
- Time management
- Patient education
Unit Successes/Designations:
- One of the busiest STEMI programs in the IU Health System
- The only 24/7 STEMI program in Hendricks County
Unit culture:
- Team oriented, patient focused department who work together to care for very sick patients and their families
- Very involved and dedicated leadership team
- Shared decision making
- Close collaboration between physicians, RNs and Radiology technicians
Qualifications
- 1 year of critical care experience is preferred.
- Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
- Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
- Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
