The typical schedule for our full-time clinical nurse position is four days per week, plus one or two Saturday morning shifts per month. Opportunities available to pick up extra hours.
The RN position at AAIA involves travel to our regularly scheduled satellite clinics throughout eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.
Stipends and mileage are paid for satellite clinics. These are "out and back" daytime clinics; no late evenings; no overnight stays.
Typical RN Clinical Duties, Responsibilities and Skills for this position at AAIA:
- Provide direct clinical nursing care to our patients (from pediatrics to adults)
- Perform clinical tasks and procedures such as:
-patient intake interviews/rooming patients/vitals
-allergy skin testing (percutaneous, intradermal, patch testing)
-food allergy testing and oral challenges
-lung function tests
-allergy and venom immunotherapy injection (prep and administer)
-administer biologic drugs
-administer IV and subcutaneous immunoglobulin
- Ambulatory chronic infection/respiratory infection patient care
- Patient education and teaching; literature distribution
- Triage patient care in person and via phone calls/messages
- Schedule patient appointments in the computer
- Maintain workflows related to patient care and clinic activities
- Compliance with OSHA, HIPAA and government regulations
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
- Must be able to work both as part of the team and independently; self-motivated
- Skilled at continuous management of time, resources, and tasks
- Ability to be flexible in response to changing demands
- Skills in accurate medical verbal communication and chart documentation
- Personal qualities of respect for each person to maintain good interpersonal relationships
- Ability to interact appropriately with patients, patient families, co-workers and the public
- Metro area and satellite clinic travel

- Experience with EMR/EHR systems

Requirements
Education and Requirements
- Requires a current active Registered Nurse license in the State of Nebraska.
- BSN, with patient teaching skills and ability to coordinate care for complex patients.
- Current BLS CPR/AED for Health Care Providers certification required.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States.
Bilingual is a plus. Clinical experience in an allergy, asthma or immunology environment is preferred, but not required.
Physical Demands
This position requires intermittent physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and lifting. The employee may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
This job will require exposure to patient elements. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
